Pottery!

Coming up later this month, there will be a pottery class. This time it is for adults. Class size is limited to 20 people, so first come, first served. There is a $5 registration fee. The class will be on the 30th of September, at 11:30 am. See you there!

Updates

Two things slipped my memory.

First, Brian managed to get the air conditioner on the third floor working again. So now it is enjoyable to be in that area, instead of being threatened by dehydration or heatstroke.

The second thing is the Book Sale. This is taking place on the Patio of the library, and runs from today till next Friday the 22. There is a whole host of books and some movies for sale, from as little as 10 cents to as high as a dollar. Some specific items may be higher in price, but these are rarer items.

Third Floor AC

A quick up date on the over heating of the Gross Community Room and third floor of your Ross Library. If all goes well... the third floor Air Conditioning unit should be repaired by August eighth. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. The replacement part is currently being assembled and will be shipped upon completion. Thank you for your patience.

This news is a bit old, but I thought I'd post it anyways. About two weeks ago, a part in the air conditioning unit malfunctioned, and it needs to be replaced. Whay is this news? This is important to know because it affects the third floor. The Community Room is on the third floor, and that is where any number of group activities take place. Reference the calender for examples. All other parts of the building are fine, but the 3rd floor has no A/C, and it can get murderous up there when it is hot and humid outside. The staff are working as quickly and as efficiently as possible to get the part replaced, so that programs can resume up there. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer.

New Contributors

I would like to welcome the new contributors to the blog, Denise of Young Adult Services, and Rosemary from the Small Business Collection. They will be adding information as pertains to their sections of the library, as well as relevant community activities. Keep an eye out for their stuff!

Happenings

Things are going well at the Library. The young adult programs had a good turnout, and pictures may go up soon. The adult computer classes are going smoothly as well, and there are still a few sessions left. Spaces are open, so you can call the Library to secure your spot. The Childrens' Library has also had some programs that are progressing fantastically. Check the calendar for events, and call to sign up.

On the other side of the Library, genealogy has had some substantial traffic. We've had visitors from all over the country stopping by to look up records on ancestors. Pretty neat!

One project the technology technician is working on is time management software. This will help the librarians regulate the amount of time spent on the computers. Also will help in dealing with unruly patrons who are either violating policy, or refuse to leave the computer. So if you see a computer with a sign on it and a different screen on it than the other computers, just check with the librarian.

That's all for now. Ciao!

Calendar Dates

Due to a scheduling mixup, there have been some changes to the events calendar. You may notice that one of the computer workshops now takes place on Monday, from 10am to Noon. This is so the event does not conflict with the event held by the Children's Library.

More computer events may be coming soon. As demand grows, expect to see new times and dates show up. Until then, Enjoy your weekend!
